Acceptable use policy
Last updated 6 August 2026.
Kourio is transactional email infrastructure. This policy describes what may be sent through it. It is short on purpose: the rules that matter are few, and we would rather they be read.
You must have permission to email the recipient
Every address you send to must belong to someone who asked to hear from you — because they created an account, made a purchase, or otherwise gave you their address for this purpose. Consent must be provable and must be specific to your service.
These are never acceptable, under any plan:
- Purchased, rented, scraped or otherwise acquired address lists.
- Cold outbound and prospecting email.
- Addresses harvested from public sources, directories or social networks.
- Addresses that have bounced as invalid, or that have previously marked your mail as spam.
You must send from a domain you control
Kourio only accepts a sender address on a domain your organization has verified by publishing a DKIM record we issue. Attempting to send as a domain you do not control, or impersonating another organization or individual, ends the account immediately.
Content that is not allowed
- Phishing, credential harvesting, or any message designed to be mistaken for another organization.
- Malware, or links leading to it.
- Fraudulent offers, pyramid or matrix schemes, and deceptive financial claims.
- Content that is illegal where the sender or the recipient is located.
- Deliberately misleading headers, subject lines, or sender names — including forged
FromorReply-Toaddresses.
Bounces, complaints and suppression
Kourio maintains a suppression list per organization. An address that hard bounces or files a spam complaint is added automatically and is refused on every later send. You may not work around suppression — by re-importing suppressed addresses, by rotating them across accounts, or by any other means.
We monitor bounce and complaint rates per account. An account whose rates rise toward the thresholds our upstream enforces will be contacted, throttled, or suspended, depending on severity and on how quickly it is corrected.
Marketing email
Where a message is promotional rather than transactional, it must carry a working unsubscribe mechanism, including the one-click headers required by major mailbox providers, and unsubscribe requests must be honoured promptly.
Enforcement
We investigate every abuse report we receive. Depending on what we find we may throttle sending, suspend an account, or terminate it. Serious violations — phishing, malware, purchased lists — result in immediate termination without notice, because the harm is done while a warning is being read.
Reporting abuse
If you received a message sent through Kourio that you did not ask for, write to abuse@kourio.app and include the full message headers. Reports are read by a person and acted on.
